The first Earthwing deck was a mixture of s-glass, birch, and thin woven stainless steel fabric. Founded and owned by Brian Petrie in 1998, Earthwing is based out of New York City. Petrie was making decks from broken snowboards and began looking for different ways to build a faster board. Petrie had turned his apartment into a DIY factory, building tools to create his skateboards. In 2003, Earthwing's kevlar, carbon, and birch Supercharger prototype won the "Broadway Bomb" race. Today, decks are constructed from different woods and synthetic materials using their own founded formulas. Earthwing is grounded in the passion and fun of skating.
