Description
Description:
RipTide Fat Cone APS Forumula Bushings are a hybrid of the Barrel and Chubby Bushings. The Fat Cone has the circumference of a Barrel where the bushing sits on the truck and gradually widens to the size of a Chubby where the washer sits. This combination allows the rider to lean more than a Chubby while applying progressive resistance the more the rider leans. Fat Cones have the same initial stability as a Barrel but the more you lean, the more resistance you will encounter.
Best Use:
RipTide Fat Cone APS Bushings are perfect for riders looking for stability at higher speeds while still maintaining maneuverability for slides, high speed carving and downhill applications. Fat Cones are a good choice if you need to restrict the end of your lean to prevent wheelbite.
Best Combo:
Try combining the RipTide Fat Cone APS Bushings with a set of RipTide Barrel APS Bushings. This combination produces better stability at higher speeds while still allowing the rider freedom to perform controlled carving and sliding.
Tuning:
When tuning your Fat Cone APS Bushing, RipTide recommends tightening to the point where it is difficult to turn the bushing in the bushing seat by hand. Use a flat washer to lower resistance and cupped washer for higher resistance. The APS does not change much when you tighten the kingpin nut past snug.
Application:
The RipTide Cone APS Bushing measures .60" tall making them a perfect fit for reverse kingpin "cast" trucks such as Paris, Calibers, Bear Grizzly and Randals.
Animated Polymer System (APS):
RipTide describes their APS Formula as follows: "As the name implies, this compound is very lively and offers higher rebound with lots of control and lean. For the same durometer, the APS will turn 10% to 15% more than the same durometer of other brands." This formula produces a very stable feel near centerpoint yet requires very little lean effort to produce desired turns.
