The RipTide Tall Barrel APS Formula Bushing shares the same characteristics as the Barrel Bushing but taller in stature. As the name implies, the Tall Barrel Bushing measures .75" compared to the Barrel Bushing's .60" measurement. This equates to 30% more urethane meaning the rider can produce 30% more lean creating deeper feeling turns.
Best Combo:
Best when used as a Double Barrel combo but equally responsive when used in the Roadside position in combo with other shapes and or duro's in the Broadside position.
Tuning:
When tuning the Tall Barrel APS Bushing, RipTide recommends tightening to the point where it is difficult to turn the bushing in the bushing seat by hand. Use a flat washer to lower resistance and a cupped washer for higher resistance. The APS does not change much when you tighten the kingpin nut past snug.
Application:
The Tall Bushings measure .75" tall requiring trucks that like to use tall bushing stock. Riders can always modify their standard truck with an extended kingpin to allow for the addition length of the Tall Barrel.
Animated Polymer System (APS):
RipTide describes their APS Formula as follows: "As the name implies, this compound is very lively and offers higher rebound with lots of control and lean. For the same durometer, the APS will turn 10% to 15% more than the same durometer of other brands." This formula produces a very stable feel near centerpoint yet requires very little lean effort to produce desired turns.
